As the drugs wear off, civilization must struggle to start anew on their hostile, still-evolving world. Resha becomes friends with a neighbor Swallow and they together decide that the people need an new dream drastically different from their ancestors way of life in order to start over and regain the essence of their humanity. Fighting to recover her past memories Resha shares tales of their planet before the disaster with her new confidant and ally Swallow, a woman half her to learn from their ancestor’s mistakes their curiosity draws the two into the outside world. On their first exploration away from their village, Resha and Swallow trek across the desert to the half-buried ruins of the once majestic Rhipam City. While visiting there they explore hoping to find records left behind by their ancestors that will hold the answers to why their world nearly beneath the ruins of Rhipam City they discover two sealed fortresses which contain artifacts from the past. The largest was constructed in old converted twenty-first century, subway tunnels abandon after their world became so overpopulated that there was no longer anyplace to go. One elite group, had seized, sealed off and over a century's time has construct an impenetrable fortress allowing their last patriarch and his wife to survive the chaos of the disaster. The other chamber is a refuge consisting of a maze of interconnected cellars under the now devastated garment district of Rhipam the first fortress, they discover a cavern which holds a treasure of antiques leading to modest living quarters.
